Brian Lisik and Craig Lisik collaborate on new single, “Why I’m Here”

“Why I’m Here,” the latest single from Akron, Ohio-based rocker Brian Lisik (due 8/16 from Cherokee Queen Records) is a return to roots in more ways than one.

The song marks the first official collaboration between Lisik and his brother/co-producer Craig Lisik (facetiously dubbed here as “The Slovak Club”) since 2006’s “Happiness Is Boring.” According to Lisik, “Why I’m Here” came to life as all rock-n-roll songs should – literally on the spot.

“Craig and I had been recording some ideas at his home studio and I came in one day with this riff,” he said. “Craig got behind the drums as I played it, then I threw on some lyrics I’d written a couple weeks prior, Craig laid down a bass line and we took the whole thing to Don Dixon (REM, Smithereens, Counting Crows, Darius Rucker) to mix. Voila, a record. I think the first take is the one we went with.”

True to form for Lisik, the slashing guitar, fervent vocal and window rattling drums propel the song’s yearning, desperate lyric to create a musical tableau of both exhilaration and dread.

A full length album from the brothers is planned for spring 2025. Lisik is currently touring behind his latest release, “Nu Wreckard,” featuring the white-hot cover of The Replacements’ “Alex Chilton” and “Blood In Their Eyes,” Brian Lisik and Hard Legs’ collaboration with Akron punk legends, The Bizarros.
